Namun, ketika jumlah perangkat bertambah banyak, jaringan besar sering kali sulit dikelola. Untuk itu, dibutuhkan cara agar jaringan besar bisa dipecah menjadi jaringan yang lebih kecil dan teratur  inilah yang disebut subnetting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Subnetting tidak hanya membantu menghemat alamat IP, tetapi juga meningkatkan keamanan karena administrator dapat mengatur batas komunikasi antar subnet. Misalnya, jaringan sekolah dapat dibagi menjadi subnet untuk ruang guru, laboratorium komputer, dan administrasi sekolah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Konsep ini menjadi penting karena IPv4 hanya memiliki 4,3 miliar alamat yang harus dibagi ke seluruh dunia. Pengertian Subnetting<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Subnetting berasal dari kata Sub Network, yaitu teknik membagi satu jaringan IP besar menjadi beberapa jaringan kecil dengan subnet mask tertentu.<br>Subnet mask digunakan untuk menentukan bagian Network ID (identitas jaringan) dan Host ID (identitas perangkat dalam jaringan).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contoh sederhana:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>IP Address: <code>192.168.1.0<\/code><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Subnet Mask: <code>255.255.255.0<\/code><br>Artinya jaringan ini memiliki 256 alamat (0\u2013255) dengan 254 alamat yang bisa digunakan (karena 2 alamat digunakan untuk network dan broadcast).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Manfaat_Subnetting\"><\/span><strong>2.
